Q-16 and the Eye to All Worlds
Excerpt from the History of the Four Forces

By Puc Thanestorm

A hunter/gatherer society based in the mountains above the surface of their world on Eolastin, the Soarin are agile and graceful as they are deadly accurate in both manner and combat. They live within tribes in villages built in the mountains high above ground, the largest being located within the Trafjan Cliffs.
Soarin stand at about seven to eight feet tall. They are bipedal creatures, though there is very little aside from this that betrays them as even looking close to humanoid. They are covered in fur with thin stripes (depending on the region colours will vary) with a thin lion-like tail and mane to match along with wings which are about twenty feet from tip to tip. Their facial structure is a sleek canine one, often earning them the alternate name of ‘Sky Wolves’. The Soarin lifespan ranges from seventy to ninety years or 865.2 moons to 1112.4 moons (formula used to calculate moon spans is number of years multiplied by 12.36 which is approximately how many moon cycles there are in a year, if date of birth is know this is more accurate as you subtract how many moons already passed in that year). They mature at about the age of fifteen.
From about the age of six, they are trained to use a bow and arrow as well as to fly, usually by a Beta. This is so that once they reach maturity they are ready to participate in the Eternal Hunt, a right of passage each Soarin must undergo to be deemed an adult in their society. The ritual is named as such because the objective is to take down a large boar named Orion, which stands at about twenty feet high. It regenerates each midnight after it is killed if its bones are buried within the earth. Legend has it that the boar Orion was a gift from the Great Provider so that no Soarin would go hungry. There are cases in which young Soarin have died during the hunt.
Each tribe of Soarin is ruled over by an Alpha, an elder leader either male or female in gender. Below the Alpha are generally six Beta, accompanying elders which are responsible for educating the youth in various area’s of life as well as helping make decisions within the village. The Alpha of each tribe will also meet once a moon with Alpha’s of other tribes to discuss issues on territory, trade, right of passage ceremonies as well as to exchange news from other regions. Among these there is also a Supreme Alpha (generally the Alpha of the Trafjan Cliffs) whom has authority above all of the others at these meetings, similar to the structure within each village. The Supreme Alpha is able to call all other tribes to war with him should a threat arise such as during the Great War against Mordred the Conqueror.
While Soarin do trade among one another there is no monetary system in place, partially due to their belief in the Great Provider. They believe each being receives what they need, therefore no two items ever truly hold the same value as this value changes upon the given situation.
The Soarin only have one deity they worship known simply as the Great Provider, a nature centered god that demands respect be paid to the natural world and that the Soarin live in harmony with all things around them. Though exposed to Unaverism through the arrival of Orbeyus and the Four Forces, they have remained with their own religion intact, refusing to convert and not being forced to do so either.
